You bought a rad Disco Lemonade patch, so now what?? Good news, these are no sew patches! Whew, am I right?! All patches are backed with iron-on film on the reverse side (unless noted) making it super easy to attach to your favorite item.

Below are a few easy steps to get that rad patch attached. We can’t wait to see where your patch ends up!

How to Attach, Your Iron-On Patch (oh that rhymed!)

For this example, let’s say you’re attaching your patch to a denim jacket.

1.      Preheat your iron to the hottest setting, avoiding the steam setting. In this instance denim can handle the highest setting, but if you are attaching to other material, please verify the hottest setting for that item. Patches attach best to cotton, denim and polyester.

2.      Warm the area where the patch will be applied. A quick press with the iron will do.

3.      Attaching the patch, Option A: press iron into the backside of the jacket, holding for 30-45 seconds. Do not move the iron around. Direct heat and pressure are required.

Option B: place a thin cloth (ex. pillowcase, bandana) between the iron and the patch. Hold the iron on the cloth for 30-45 seconds. Do not more the iron around. Direct heat and pressure are required.

*Over heating the patch may cause it to not adhere properly.

4. Remove the iron and hold down for 30 seconds applying more pressure. Allow patch to completely cool before wearing.

Iron-on patches are great for that quick and easy application. Unfortunately, iron-on patches don’t stay put forever. If you’re attaching to a garment that requires frequently washing or gets lots of wear (it’s dope, we get it!) we suggest stitching in place for a more permanent application.

My latest business venture is Disco Lemonade, a custom embroidery shop started in 2019. But let’s be clear here, this is not your grandma’s cutesy embroidery or Southern Belle monogrammed madness. No no, we offer more of an edgy embroidered look. Think more of a girl power, snakes + skulls vibe.

It’s been a fun ride the last few months jumping straight into the world of embroidery with the purchase of a 6 needle embroidery machine! Did I mention I had NEVER embroidered before this?? Oh yeah, I had no idea what I was doing but I was ready to learn. I had one small break down at the beginning, which included crying on the phone to the technician, but he assured me I could learn, I just needed some time. (Although I was a little embrassed I apprecaited the free therapy.)

I wish I had a dope reason for going all in with embroidery but the truth is I just always want to be different. Embroidery allows me to create whatever I want on my clothes + feel like it’s the best representation of my true style. Plus, I love creating for other people! It’s been the best creative outlet for me + I’m so thankful I just went for something I knew nothing about!
